Head of the Department, Prof (GUT)
Received M.Sc., Eng. in Electronics in 1995, Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2002 and habilitation in Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering in 2016. He has spent about 2 years working on projects at different European institutions. Dr. Ruminski was selected as the expert to the European Standardization Body and was active in Polish Standardization Body (Health Informatics). He was a coordinator or an investigator in about 20 projects receiving a number of awards, including for best papers, practical innovations and the Andronicos G. Kantsios Award. Dr. Ruminski is the author of about 200 papers, several patent applications and patents. Recently he was a main coordinator of the European eGlasses project.

Received M.Sc., Eng. in Electronics in 1995 from Gdansk University of Technology, Ph.D. in Medical Electronics in 2003 and habilitation in Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering in 2017. He was an investigator in about 13 projects receiving a number of awards, including four best papers, practical innovations (7 medals and awards) and also the Andronicos G. Kantsios Award and Siemens Award. Main research activities: the issues of active dynamic thermography (ADT), use of thermography in medical diagnostics - in cardiosurgery, burns diagnostics, postoperative wound healing. The research also includes problems related to image processing and AAL - Ambient Assisted Living. Author of more than 140 papers (WoS), and several patent applications (Hirsh index = 14: https://scholar.google.pl/; ORCiD). For many years he has been involved in activities related to the popularization of science among people from outside the university.
Full Professor
Received PhD and habilitation in biomedical electronics in 1986 and 2004. He was the main researcher or coordinator of many scientific projects and is the author of 7 books, more than 200 refereed publications, and 16 patents. Currently, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, GUT. He was a leader of the recently completed DOMESTIC project that resulted in a home system for health and activity monitoring of elderly. The elements of the system include intelligent diagnostic armchair, the smart scale (with ECG measurements), the smart bathtub supporting safe bathing preserving the privacy of a person, etc. The system received many international and national awards. It was also demonstrated at CeBIT fairs.

He celebrated on 1 March 2017 the 50-unniversary of employment at the Gdansk University of Technology. He used to be a vice-rector of TUG (1990-1996), the founder and head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (1991 – 2013), a member of many scientific institutions, as PAU, vice-president of the CODATA PKN and CODATA Executive Board in Paris. He served as an expert to ISTC EU and Healthcare Telematics and to several Polish institutions, as Ministry of Science. He is a member of the Committee of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering and the Committee of Medical Physics, Radiobiology and Diagnostic Imaging Polish Academy of Sciences and several other scientific bodies. Prof. (GUT), D.Sc., PhD, M.Sc.
Received M.Sc. (2005) and PhD (2009) in Theoretical Physics at Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin. From 2009 to 2011 a post-doctoral fellow at University of Warwick (UK). The post-doctoral fellowship was founded by Royal Society of London. From 2013 he has been working at Medical University of Gdansk and from 2019 at Gdansk University of Technology. Dr Gruszecki received his D.Sc. degree (habilitation) in Health Sciences from Medical University of Gdansk in 2018. He was involved in many projects in astrophysics, molecular simulations and analysis of biomedical data. At that moment the main research activity of Dr Gruszecki is focused on neuroscience. He published about 30 referred publications and was a coordinator or an investigator in about 6 research grants. Assistant Professor
Born 12 December 1972 in Kalinowo, Poland. He was educated in Primary School in Kalinowo (1978-1987) and Electronic Technical School in Giżycko, Poland (1997-1992), then Gdansk University of Technology, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, where he receives MsC Eng Diploma in 1997. In 2007 he defended his PhD Thesis on „Differential Impedance Tomography”.
From 1997 he is working at Biomedical Engineering Department ath the faculty. In parallel he was working as a younger assistant at Radiology Department in Gdansk Medical University’s hospital (1999-2007) and as an professor assistant at Olsztyn Higher Scholl of informatics and Management (2008-2013).
He is mainly interested in biomedical electronics – from construction of devices to data visualization. He is particularly interested in bioimpedance, biosignal acquisition and ambient assisted living technologies including IoT, especially for elders assistance.
Assistant Professor
He received the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in electronics from Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdańsk, Poland, in 2001 and 2008, respectively, where he is currently working as an Assistant Professor.
His interests are related to various sensors, solid state ionic conductors and electrochemical methods of materials characterization. Dr. Jasiński was a principal investigator in MNiSW/NCN project ‘Electrocatalytic toxic gas sensors’and NCBR project ‘Multisensor system for measuring air pollutants’. He is author of more then 120 scientific articles and conference papers. He has received Gold Medal in the Innowacje 2015 contest at 11th Industrial Technology, Science and Innovation Exhibition, Gdańsk, scientific awards of GUT Chancellor and few best poster/presentation awards at conferences.
He is a member of IMAPS - Poland Chapter, Polish Society of Sensor Technology and Polish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association.

I am a young scientist, researcher teacher and an engineer. I publish and do research on human system interaction and interface, eye tracking and hospital information system. My grate passion is tinkering, there for I try to build and program the equipment I need for research by my self. Among different Human-Computer Interfaces I have designed, the eye tracking glasses and supporting software is defiantly the one I’m most proud of. For my research I was awarded with the prestiges scholarships (InterPhD twice and InnoDoktorant) for the PhD students. I was Previously associated with City University London (UK), Gdansk Medical University Hospital and OrlandoHelath Hostpital (FL USA).

Tomasz Neumann received his master's degree in Physics (atomic spectroscopy) at Univesity of Gdańsk in 2007 and ten years later Ph.D. in Earth Science (oceanology) at Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Science where he simulated light propagation in turbid medium using the Monte Carlo method.
In 2007-2018 he had worked as a lecture of physics at Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics at the GUT. From November 2018 untill now he has been working in the field of biomedical engineering in the Biomedical Engineering Department, Faculty of Electronics , Telecommunication and Informatics at the GUT.
Areas of interest: biomedical signal and image processing, computer simulations, machine learning algorithms. In his free time he plays football or swimming (also in winter)
Senior Lecturer
Artur Poliński received the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in electronics from GUT, Poland, in 1994, and 1999, respectively, and received the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from Gdańsk University, Poland, in 1997, and 2007 respectively. His research interests include the development of noninvasive methods for the assessment of cardiovascular system, tissue spectroscopy measurements and analysis, biomedical signal analysis and processing, modeling and simulations of the diagnostic methods. He was involved in 5th EU framework project „EDUEM2 - The EU in humanitarian DEMining, Phase 2. Assistant Professor
Anna Jezierska (Węsierska) received the engineering degree from ETI PG, Poland, in 2006, the Ph.D. degree from the University Paris-Est, Paris, France, in 2013. She is currently an adjunct Professor at the Departement of Biomedical Engineering ETI PG and an adjunct Professor at the IBS PAN at the Department of Mathematical Modelling and Optimization of Dynamical Systems. In 2014, A. Jezierska received PhD award 'Prix solennels de la Chancellerie des universites de Paris 2014'. In 2015, she received an award form Minister of Science Scholarships for outstanding young scientists. She is currently a coordinator of NCN SONATA project. Dr A. Jezierska published 4 refereed journal papers, 13 conference papers (h-index = 8 on Google Scholar). Her research interests include: image processing and large scale optimization problems in biology and medicine.

Magdalena Madej obtained MSc in electronics in 2007 from the Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland. Currently is a Lecturer in the Biomedical Engineering department, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunication and Informatics, Gdansk University of Technology. She is an author of 14 scientific papers in international journal and conference proceedings. She has led a research project funded by the Polish Government: NCN Preludium 2011/01/N/ST7/06625 „Evaluation of heart dynamics for CRT”. She is also an author of one Polish patent. She is interested in biosignals measurement and analysis, computer modeling and simulation of biosignals measurement methods. Currently, she is conducting research on impedance measurements of cardiac function.

Magdalena Mazur-Milecka received her M.Sc. degree in Electronic engineering in 2006. She has been working as a lecturer in the field of informatics and biomedical engineering in the Biomedical Engineering department, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunication and Informatics at the Gdansk University of Technology since 2011. She was involved in cooperation with Medical University of Gdańsk on the project of experimental studies of stroke treatment automation. She is also collaborating with University of Gdańsk in the field of automatic animal behavior recognition. Areas of interest: image processing, computer vision, machine learning algorithms, automation of recognition and analysis of behavior.

In 2015, I started studying at the Koszalin University of Technology. In 2018, I graduated from the Computer Network Administration specialization and with the title of engineer. In 2020, I started working at the Gdańsk University of Technology, where I am responsible for systems management, ongoing maintenance and management of the university network.

Alicja Kwasniewska (Ph.D. in AI for Biomedical Engineering) is a software architect at SiMa.ai specializing in Artificial Intelligence applications for embedded edge. Her expertise in the areas of Computer Science and Deep Learning for Biomedical Engineering are foundational as she works to develop solutions for autonomous driving, smart home and remote healthcare applications. She is also a co-founder of the International Summer School on Deep Learning educating future generations on the fundamentals of deep learning methods. She frequently presents her work at international conferences and has 20+ publications in the field, which were awarded with best paper and best young professional paper awards. In her PhD dissertation she proposed AI solutions aimed at improving the accuracy of the contactless vital signs estimation from low resolution thermal sequences.
Student PhD
A graduate of a master's degree at Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at the Gdansk University of Technology. Currently a student of PhD studies at the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the field of Biocybernetics and biomedical engineering. He has experience in biomedical measurement and human computer interactions and the ability to conduct experimental verification of scientific research. In addition, he has several years of experience in the design of electronic circuits and printed circuits boards. The designs were used in various research and development works in cooperation with Gdansk University of Technology and Gdansk Medical University. at the Baltic Science Festival and the Science Picnic in Warsaw.

Lukasz Wozniak received his MSc in electronics in 2012 from the Gdańsk University of Technology. Since then he is a PhD student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Gdansk University of Technology. His main areas of interests are connected with the methods of features extraction and data analysis leading to improvement of sensing properties of gas sensors. He was involved in the research project “Multisensor system for measuring air pollutants” funded by the National Centre of Research and Development. Author or co-author of the over 20 scientific articles and conference papers, including articles in journals covered by Journal Citation Reports. Non-scientific interests are connected especially with playing on the electric guitar as well as with working in wood and card games.
