He celebrated on 1 March 2017 the 50-unniversary of employment at the Gdansk University of Technology. He used to be a vice-rector of TUG (1990-1996), the founder and head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (1991 – 2013), a member of many scientific institutions, as PAU, vice-president of the CODATA PKN and CODATA Executive Board in Paris. He served as an expert to ISTC EU and Healthcare Telematics and to several Polish institutions, as Ministry of Science. He is a member of the Committee of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering and the Committee of Medical Physics, Radiobiology and Diagnostic Imaging Polish Academy of Sciences and several other scientific bodies. He published several books and many scientific papers. He is a member of editorial boards of several scientific journals and an editor of the QIRT Journal. He received many awards and medals including Krzyż Komandorski OOP.
